CREATIVE-LEARNING PROJECTS

Coast 2 Coast facilities innovative photography, film, art, music, theater, and environmental creative-learning projects with local partners in coastal communities worldwide. Workshops are documented by the community and workshop facilitators and shared in SPACE.

OCEAN CONSERVATION AND PEACE-BUILDING PROJECTS:

 

Coast 2 Coast facilities creative-learning projects focused on upcycling, marine conservation, and environmental advocacy. Past projects include constructing a “peace bench” between Muslim and Hindu fishing villages made entirely from discarded water bottles then filled with rubbish, building a skate park completely from trash with Belgium and local students in Southern India, jewelry-making workshops, and more.

SOCIAL INTEGRATION THROUGH SPORTS:

 

Coast 2 Coast utilizes the sport of surfing to engage local youth to develop their own key values and principles necessary to grow into a global citizens. Coast 2 Coast also applies surfing to promote solidarity between youth from drastically different socioeconomic backgrounds by organizing beach clean ups and sustainable surf days. Forty percent of the world’s population live in coastal communities that have social structures, cultural values, environments, and economic systems that are impacted by surf tourism on a daily basis. Youth growing up in surf destinations worldwide and across socioeconomic spheres will experiences similar dramatic changes in their environments in the coming decades. Surfing provides another medium of self-expression, confidence-building, and solidarity for youth from coast to coast.
